J.J. Watt announced his retirement in a tweet on Tuesday morning.

"Koa's first ever NFL game. My last ever NFL home game. My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It's been an absolute honor and a pleasure," he tweeted

Watt has two games left in his 12-year career, against the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers.

He'll retire as one of his generation's most outstanding defensive players.

Watt is one of three players award  the Defensive Player of the Year three times.

He signed with the Cardinals before the 2021 season, where he will finish his career.

Watt is 26th on the NFL's career list with 111.5 sacks, a metric that has been formally recorded since 1982.
