Ticketmaster is formally apologising to its customers on Friday night after millions of passionate Taylor Swift fans waited in hours-long lines over the period of two days only to be shut out.
“We want to apologize to Taylor and all of her fans – especially those who had a terrible experience trying to purchase tickets. We feel we owe it to everyone to share some information to help explain what happened,” Ticketmaster announced on its Twitter account.
The company apologized in a statement released on Friday night, about a half-day after Swift expressed her displeasure about the incident in a fiery post, calling the scenario “excruciating” and seeming to place the responsibility at Ticketmaster’s feet.

It “goes without saying that I’m tremendously protective of my fans,” Swift wrote in her Instagram story. She said in the message, which doesn’t specifically mention Ticketmaster but alludes to the ticketing fiasco,
“It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse,”
“There are a multitude of reasons why people had such a hard time trying to get tickets and I’m trying to figure out how this situation can be improved moving forward,” She further wrote
“I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them multiple times if they could handle this kind of demand and we were assured they could.”
She added that it was “truly amazing” that 2.4 million people got ticket. She wrote.
“But it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them,”
Swift’s U.S. tour, which begins in Arizona in March and concludes in Los Angeles in August, has gained 17 more dates. There will be 52 performances during the tour.
According to Ticketmaster, Friday’s general public ticket sales for Swift’s Eras Tour have been postponed, “due to high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient available ticket inventory to match that demand.” The company tweeted.

Swift spoke directly to fans who missed tickets,”my hope is to provide more opportunities for us to all get together and sing these songs.”
“Thank you for wanting to be there.”
The company reported on Thursday the greatest Taylor’s Verified Fan sale in Ticketmaster’s history, more than 3.5 million people pre-registered. According to the report, 40% of fans who are invited to buy tickets often do so, and they purchase an average of three tickets.
