Miss Universe was purchased by a Thai transgender business woman for $20 million

Miss Universe was purchased by a Thai transgender business woman for $20 million, according to her company’s announcement this week.
Thai celebrity Chakrapong “Anne” Chakrajutathib has appeared in reality shows and is outspoken about being transgender.
In a news statement published on Wednesday, her business, JKN Global Group Public Co. Ltd., stated that it had purchased the Miss Universe Organization’s rights from IMG Worldwide, which had previously held the Miss Universe Organization since 2015.

From 1996 until IMG bought the pageant rights, former American president Donald Trump had a portion of ownership. According to IMG, the pageant is televised in 165 nations.
Chakrajutathib called the purchase “a great, strategic addition to our portfolio” in a statement. The Miss Universe moniker will be used to promote JKN’s consumer products, which are involved in content distribution, beverages, food supplements, beauty, and consumer goods.

With more than 71 years of history, the Miss Universe Organization is a multinational organisation that oversees more than 500 million of its pageants globally.
According to the group’s website, MUO “creates and provides a safe space for women to tell their stories and generate influence.” It is an organisation that is open to people of all ethnicities, backgrounds, and religions.

According to a story of Chakrapong published in the Bangkok Post newspaper earlier this year, she attended an all-male school where she experienced harassment for identifying as a woman. She spent $1 million on sex reassignment surgery and other operations after becoming affluent, according to the publication.
According to Human Rights, a New York-based organisation, Thailand does not have a process for transgender people to change their legal gender or numerous legal rights for the LGBTQ population.
Along with her commercial endeavours, Chakrajutathib worked to form the Life Inspired For Transsexual Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing trans rights.
The following Miss Universe competition is scheduled to take place in New Orleans in January.
