According to Zoe Kravitz, Big Little Lies won’t get a third season.
Following the passing of the show’s director and executive producer Jean-Marc Vallée in December 2021, the 33-year-old actress spoke candidly about the HBO series’ future.
In a GQ video interview, Kravitz stated, “We spoke a lot about producing a season 3.” “Our wonderful director, Jean-Marc Vallée, sadly died away last year. It’s terribly sad.” Kravitz went on, “Without him, I’m not sure how I would survive. He was the show’s true creative force. Sadly, it is finished.”
Fans had had hope that Big Little Lies may get a second season because to Kravitz’s Big Little Lies co-star Laura Dern.
She said to Entertainment Tonight last month, “I mean, we would all love nothing more, we’re like family, just extremely lucky.” “I say, let’s maintain optimism. Let’s keep asking because it might just happen.”
Along with Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, and Shailene Woodley, the drama follows a group of moms in Monterey, California as they engage in deadly conflict. It was written by David E. Kelley and is based on Liane Moriarty’s 2014 book of the same name.
In December 2021, Vallée passed away from a heart attack at his cabin outside of Quebec City, Canada, as PEOPLE has previously reported. He was 58.

Additionally, Kidman posted a tribute on Instagram, saying, “It’s difficult to picture Jean-Marc being gone when he’s so alive, active, and present. I’m in pieces. I can’t exaggerate how important he was to me since he was the focus of my creative universe.”
